💡 Tech Tip ~ Slip-In-Slide with Interactive Notebooks

Updated: Oct 10, 2020

I use interactive notebooks and Google Slides for almost everything I do. The one downfall that once you push a copy out to students in Google Classroom, you cannot update your slides and have student slides update as well! When working in an interactive slide deck, I want to push new slides out to students day by day. I believe this helps students feel less overwhelmed and allows them to focus specifically on that day's lesson or tasks. So...in comes the Add-On Slip-in-Slide.

This extension allows me to send new slides to my students every day! It requires access to your Google Drive. The add-on will require you to select the CLASSROOM folder that the assignment is a part of that you are slipping the slides into. You only need to "select the folder" from your drive the first time you slip a slide into the presentation. After you have used the folder once, the add-on saves your folder location for that slide deck.

  1. Start the Add-On (a window will pop up to run the add-on and will close after it has started up)

  2. Open the Add-On Menu and you will now find options at the top to choose the appropriate folder in drive

  3. Select the folder where your student's assignments for this slide deck are "housed" in the Classroom folder in Google Drive.

Once you have selected the appropriate folder, you now just need to assign the slides you want to send to your students!

I push mine out to the END of the slides students have. This means that the slide I am adding will go to the end of their slide deck. You can also push out to the beginning. You can push more than one slide or identify the slide you want to end on. Sometimes the process of adding the slides can take a little while. It depends on the content in your slide you slipping, as well as the number of students you have in the Classroom you are adding the slide to.

That's it! You've successfully slipped new slides to your students slide decks and interactive notebooks! Watch the video below for more specific walk-through instructions!
